What once started as something small has grown into a shelter where dogs with very different backgrounds arrive every day. We do not only take in Akitas and Shibas for the Netherlands and Belgium; we now also receive requests for help from other countries. Some dogs are ready for a new home, while others have been through so much that peace, time, and lasting safety matter more than rehoming.

Alongside our permanent places for Akitas and Shibas, we also have several roomies places for dogs urgently removed from difficult situations. Our grounds provide space for recovery, guidance, and daily life: a play field, sniffing garden, outdoor kennels, indoor kennels, a grooming room, a quarantine room, and over 1.5 hectares of land for training.
The quarantine room is intended for dogs who arrive urgently and whose full medical history is not yet known. There they can first settle quietly, get used to their new environment, and be safely monitored until it is clear what they need.
Our goal is not only to help as many dogs as possible, but also to honestly inform people about the risks of impulse purchases and puppy farming. Especially with Shibas and Akitas, we see how quickly people can end up in the wrong situation because of long waiting lists or online advertisements.
That is why we put just as much effort into education as we do into rescue. Real help often starts before a dog gets into trouble.
With more than 20 years of experience, we meet all requirements for keeping dogs. We also hold several qualifications for guiding and training dogs.
Are you looking for reliable breeders, or do you want to know which addresses to avoid? Feel free to send us a message. We are happy to share honest information that helps people make better choices.
To safeguard the medical care of our dogs after arrival in the Netherlands, we work closely with Dierenartspraktijk Schuurman de Weert in Warnsveld.
Dogs arriving with us are checked by a veterinarian where needed after arrival, by someone who knows our shelter and way of working. This means care for a rescue dog does not stop at the border, but is professionally continued here in the Netherlands.
We also have our own little shop: the Beach Shop. Everything we earn there goes directly back to Safe Haven Inu Rescue and helps keep daily care running.
Without sponsors, adopters, and people who care deeply about our foundation, we could never do this work at this scale. That support makes the difference, every single day. Stay Pawsitive :-)
